Getting to know Sam Davis is an interesting journey. He is an outstanding chocolate creator, but not at all a chocolate lover. A visionary making chocolate, while hardly tasting his own crafts. He makes the most exquisite and tasty chocolate. But if you ask him if he thinks so too, he will undoubtedly tell you that the story to delicious chocolate continues in his search for at least liking chocolate.
That exact reason is why he started his chocolate making journey. Sam is a chef at heart. Tastes, textures of food and how they blend together is like walking and breathing for Sam. He does not have to try his food, it just comes together because he knows it works. By chance he ended up working at the Chocolatemakers, where he learned the process of making bean-to-bar chocolate.
With loads of ideas for different flavors of chocolate Sam purchased a small chocolate machine and started to experiment in the kitchen of his small 60 square meter flat. This was a nice twist from cooking dinner. His interest and enthusiasm in creating chocolate that he actually liked, grew into the company we know today as Bohemian Cocoa. While he still does not like chocolate, including his own, all his customers disagree.
We are happy that his talent of just knowing tastes and his search in liking chocolate provides us with the most amazing chocolate known.

While Samy was on his tasty chocolate journey, he discovered that chocolate is not just something that he is intrigued by; it runs in his family! His grandfather on his mothers side of the familie, as well as his grandfather on his fathers side on the family owns a cocoa plantation in Ghana.
Nature's deliciousness
‘Delicious chocolate starts with knowing the source of the beans, its variations and flavour notes. The story and identity of the farmers, the regions and the fermentation process. My dad was happy to show me around his fathers cocoa plantation.’
